The Wizzypage theory of operation strives to keep things as simple as possible. New text areas or images can be added to a page at any time by clicking the right mouse button on any empty space within the bounds of the design surface. This will invoke the edit options menu:
Each of the main edit options are described below:
Add Image - Opens a standard Windows file dialog for the user to select a graphic file. The image is inserted at the position indicated by the edit menu cross hairs (target). This position is calculated from the location of the mouse cursor at the time the right mouse button was clicked.
Add text - Opens a custom rich text editor with basic text formatting options plus background and border editing, automated HREF link insertion and a simple spell checker. When the user closes the text editor with the editor's "done" button, the new text area is added to the page in the same way that images are. Once added, both text and image areas can be easily repositioned on the page by dragging the left mouse button. Holding the SHIFT key while dragging with the left mouse button will resize areas.
bkgcolor - Opens a color dialog for the user to change the page's background color
bkgimage - Opens a file dialog for the user to assign a background image
length - Changes the length of the inner page "container" where page width has been set to a fixed value from the page size drop-down. (If "Full Screen" has been assigned, this option has no effect.)
cancel - Closes the edit menu.

Top toolbar:

The topmost Wizzypage toolbar contains buttons and dropdowns for all the high level program functions. If you place the mouse pointer over any one of the toolbar buttons, a tooltip will appear to explain the button's function. These functions are also described below in more detail (in the same order as they appear from left to right on the toolbar):
Folder: - Indicates the "output" folder, or where the finished html file will be saved. The Wizzypage theory is that usually all the html files comprising a single web site are stored in the same folder, so each folder listed in the dropdown could be regarded as a single web site. Wizzypage maintains a list of all folders (or "sites") that a user has been creating html pages in. File: The file dropdown provides a quick way to switch between html files in the same folder. (Note: Wizzypage is not capable of editing web pages created in other applications, so only those files created with Wizzypage will show up in the files dropdown.)
New File: - The new file button opens a file dialog for the user to select a name for the new web page. If the new file is in a different folder from what is selected in the folder dropdown, the folder selection will change also. After a filename has been selected for the new page, the Wizzypage design surface will be cleared in preparation for designing the new web page.
Rename: - Provides a way to change the filename for the web page which is currently being edited.
Title - Add or change the web page's title. A web page's title displays in the browser application bar and is used by search engines to help define a page's contents.
Help Opens the Wizzpage help (the page you are currently reading).

Lower toolbar:

The lower toolbar contains a dropdown and buttons related to formatting and saving of whatever web page is currently being edited:
Page Size Selector: The first item (from left to right) is the page size selector. This dropdown provides four options: Full screen means that there is no "page container" background. A page container is meant to simulate a sheet of paper which will contain all of the page's text and graphics. To select a page container, select one of 700 pixels, 800 pixels or 900 pixels. These measurements refer to the width of the page container. Length can be adjusted from the right-click menu after the page has been added. Page containers are useful if you want to center the page contents within browsers of varying sizes. Without using a page container, the page contents will left-align when viewed in maximized browsers on high resolution monitors.
Grid Controls: The next five buttons activate the Wizzypage design surface grid controls. The first three grid control buttons activate a graph paper style background of 3 different grid sizes while the fourth toggles the grid to the "off" position. The fifth button (arrows pointing at the intersection of 2 lines) is a "snap to grid" function which automatically aligns all of the page areas to the nearest grid lines. Whenever the grid is activated, any assigned background images or colors will be replaced by a plain grid. When the grid is turned off, the background images or colors will return.
Build / Save Page: The next button after the grid controls is very important: it creates an html page based on what has been added to the Wizzypage design surface. Wizzypage does not automatically save your work or prompt you to save when closing the current page design or shutting down the application, so it is a good idea to save periodically during a design session. The Build / Save button also copies any graphic image files used on the page to the current output folder. (This simplifies uploading your site to servers, as any references to image files must be relative to the html file that calls them, not absolute paths to locations on your hard drive).
Save As: This button allows you to duplicate the current web page to use as a template for creating a new one.
Preview: The preview button will display the current web page inside whatever browser has been assigned as your system default. (Save before previewing to ensure that the latest changes will be displayed in your browser).
